Baddie Labs: What is the first book that made you cry?

Lavora: The child called It by Dave Pelzer. It’s about a boy who was abused like I’ve never seen abuse before. The trauma kind of followed him as a boy; and into a man. It’s an entire series. I read all of them! It’s sad, but very good.

Baddie Labs:  What is the most unethical practice in the publishing industry?

Lavora: I’ll have to say if you don’t know what your are doing. They will over charge you. I learned that some major self-publishing companies have sister companies under their umbrella. So if you don’t want to do business with them. They’ll send one of their sister companies to contact them. Which means they’ll be doing business with you one way or another.

Baddie Labs: Does writing energize or exhaust you?

Lavora: I’ll have to say energize. It’s my happy medium. It’s the best way that I can express myself. I use my talent as an coping skill. Hopefully it can help heal this nation.

Baddie Labs: What are common traps for aspiring writers?

Lavora: Being uneducated. Do your research. It’ll save you so much money; and time.

Baddie Labs: Does a big ego help or hurt writers?

Lavora: I have no clue. I don’t think ego matters. It’s all about product, the quality and quantity of your book. It’s important to have a good marketing team; and it depends on how much you are willing to invest in yourself. I own 100% of all of my rights. That was more important to me than anything. I’m self-published. Eventually, I discovered and selected to go mainstream. That’s a different ball game.

Baddie Labs: What is your writing Kryptonite?

Lavora: I like non-fiction genres; with a twist of fiction to take the individual out of the equation. I never want my books to be about anyone specifically. I just want to tell something that’s based on a true story. I love that movie Heaven is for Real. So many movies start off as books for example, The 50 Shades of Gray Series. That’s what I’m going for something that could convert into a screenplay and a series. My books will always give Glory to God. I like urban novels, but not too Gangster. My style of writing is more motivational and inspirational. Remind you sometimes we have to encourage ourselves.
